I first tried out the Video Capture.rev stack that comes in the Sample Projects folder with your copy of Revolution. This is the system configuration I was using when I created this tutorial (June 2008): I assume that Windows with QT installed will work the same, but I don't have the time or equipment to test it. Since I work on Mac OS X, and therefore use QuickTime, I will describe what I did to make video capture work using QuickTime. Note: The Video Grabber library only exists for Mac OS and Windows systems. Finally, I include some random notes that I have come across in which other Rev developers have described their experiences with the Video Grabber. First I'll describe the basic process of video capture, then give a listing of all of the video grabber commands included with Revolution. There is very little written on how to use it, so this is an attempt to gather all the information I can find about it into a single place. Revolution includes an external library of commands that lets you capture video from a camera attached to your computer, using capabilities included in QuickTime. I told her I’d be happy to since I knew him by reputation. Five years ago I got a call from a publicist (whose name and email I no longer have) asking me if I’d review a copy of a new book by Cook. Not only is the Francis Ouimet story one of golf’s most engaging true tales, but the movie features Stephen Dillane’s brilliant portrayal of six-time British Open champion Harry Vardon - for my money the single best performance ever by an actor in a golf movie, with all due respect to Bill Murray as Carl Spackler. Personally I’m a huge fan of The Greatest Game Ever Played. Its use in pediatrics departments is more recent and generally is restricted to children with moderate bronchiolitis. Over the last decade, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) has increasingly been used for oxygen delivery in neonatology departments, gradually replacing nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). As for any form of respiratory support, HFNC initiation in patients requires close monitoring, whether it be for pre- or inter-hospital transport or in the emergency department or the pediatric intensive care unit. But, the experience with this device in neonatology and adult intensive care may broaden the pediatric indications to include weaning from invasive ventilation and acute asthma. Currently, most of the studies in the pediatric literature suggest the benefits of HFNC therapy only for moderately severe acute viral bronchiolitis. HFNC may also create positive pharyngeal pressure to reduce the work of breathing, which positions the device midway between classical oxygen delivery systems, like the high-concentration face mask and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) generators. ![]() ![]() The use of nasal cannula adapted to the infant’s nares size to deliver heated and humidified gas at high flow rates has been associated with improvements in washout of nasopharyngeal dead space, lung mucociliary clearance, and oxygen delivery compared with other oxygen delivery systems. ![]() In pediatrics, HFNC use continues to increase as the system is easily set up and is well tolerated by patients. High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is a relatively new device for respiratory support. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I believe the best tech startup concepts are ones that are founded on the simple premise of actively making a difference in people’s lives. In particular, after one fantastic encounter with a Google support agent, I started to see how some of the greatest businesses were already incorporating asynchronous voice communication into their customer communication processes (with great success, I might add!). Other experiences I was having got me even more excited about the potential of voice messaging for business. So what if people and businesses could communicate with the same ease online? Why? The answer was simple - it was easier, it was faster, it was more natural and it communicated more. What if I could combine the convenience of modern messaging with the power of real human speech? What if I could create a product which would empower organisations to use their most valuable communication tool - voice - to listen to, engage with and understand their customers?Īll around me, I saw people speaking into their phones, communicating with their friends and families through WhatsApp Voice Messages. And around May 2019, as I was walking through a park to a meeting, it dawned on me. I knew there had to be a better way for people and businesses to communicate online. It seemed to me that with chatbot technology and automated messaging on the rise, too many businesses were beginning to prioritise speed and automation above all things - forgetting that real, human relationships have always been built through meaningful conversations between people. There was so much talk out there about the importance of ‘listening to the customer’ - but I could see very few businesses actually doing that. Ideas need time before they can ignite into something more.įor me, I found that I was becoming increasingly frustrated by the state of customer communications on the internet. Keep this idea in the forefront of your mind, sleep on it a few nights and don’t let any perception of the arduous road ahead dissuade you from giving your idea the space it needs to flourish. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll find your best ideas come from addressing a personal dissatisfaction or frustration - something that you’ve noticed is missing in your day-to-day life. ![]() The idea doesn’t need to be fully formed - just a thought about how something can be improved, or how things could be different. Of course, the first step to launching a startup is to have an idea. But we believe there are a few guiding principles that will set you on the right track for success. Of course, every tech startup is completely unique, and the journey to launch will look and feel very different for everyone. Today, I want to share with you exactly how we got to where we are today - in the hope that it might inspire you to begin making your vision a reality too. We’ve also been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received so far from our early adopters more than a hundred brands, teachers, marketers and podcasters looking to start listening to and engaging their customers, website visitors and followers through voice.
